Message Well I didn’t make it to the top 16, as they chose a 9 second class, but I had a great time. It was in a sea of American muscle cars and I was 1 of 5 imports that turned out in a group of 450 cars total. I apologize in advance for the poor picture quality in most of these photos, as we used an old school high quality camera with high definition film and the pix just didn’t turn out as expected. Some of the better quality pix are compliments of Arnel who was on sight. Barry was also there with a sweet digital camera and I think he may be posting shortly after me.

My official sponsors for the event:

Thanks guys!

I also want to thank Greg and Seb at Specialty Z for their support, as you might notice their tiny decals on my doors in the other pictures. LOL

And last but, definitely not least not least, I’d like to thank my good friend Tony at BAM’s Automotive who helped me all through the build process. He also really helped me out at the last minute before the event, but I don’t want to get into the cause of the drama that occurred unless I need to. (You know who you are.) There’s already enough drama on this sight. ;-)

Moving Forward

I finally find a parking spot:

I ended up screwing up on this first run against the Monte Carlo. I tried to stage quickly so I could have more time to build boost at the line, as the first run was off of a pro tree set to automatic. I succeeded in staging 1st, but then when I went to build boost, I over did it, pushed through and over staged. I then had to put her in reverse to restage and by that time the other guy was already staged. The light flashed, he pulled away, I built a little boost and chased him down with my late and lousy launch. My 60’ was over 2 seconds, but I still ran and 11.4 at 125. I was depressed at this point, because I know they look for consistency.

This was my second and final run off of Rich’s arm drop. This run went really well, but they showed no times for the second run and wouldn’t give me a time slip. ? I managed to find the driver of the other car later that evening and he said that he was a consistent 10.0 car. I felt good about that, because he only got me by about 4 or 5 car lengths and I was gaining on him at the top. A little more time in the seat going into the fall and I hope to be getting Arnel some sweet 10 sec slips for his web site.

That was it for me. 90+ degree weather and 2 runs in 12 hours, but I was happy to be there.

Here are some other random pix from that day:
